Summertime means flea time. If your pets go outdoors, speak with a vet about some flea treatments to prevent them from having issues later. There are a lot of ways you can deal with fleas on pets.

If your home is being invaded, purchase plenty of caulk and use it to seal every possible crack that could be used as entry into your home. Foggers and bug spray cannot get into the deep recesses of walls and many of the other favorite habitats of pests. Anywhere a pest can enter, caulk it up, including openings around pipes and where moldings butt up against ceilings and floors.

If there are rats and mice in your area, don’t make the mistake of planting fruit trees near the house. Rodents are proficient climbers, and they can use trees to gain access to your home. Place them at least 15 feet away from your home.

If you see carpenter ants, you might have a bigger problem on your hands. These ants enjoy eating away at wet wood, and if you have wet wood, then you likely have leaks and possible wood rot. Have an expert determine your problem and a solution.

As soon as you notice fallen trees in your yard, eliminate them. Cut up all the branches and the trunk as well to use for firewood. You can sell it, use it or even just give it to people. However you have to get rid of the stump as well. A stump is not alive anymore, so it could be a magnet for termites.

When trying to get rid of rodents, concentrate your energy on the yard. Make it unlivable for these pesky animals. Clear the yard and area of debris, overgrown bushes and weeds so they have no place to hide. Don’t allow your grass to get too tall, and be sure your trash cans are securely shut. Small things like these can help clear the area of pests and keep them away. Repair all leaks in your plumbing. All pests need a water source to survive. Even from a distance, these pests can tell there is water pooling in your home. Don’t be the cause of your own infestation. Just put in some work to fix the leak, and you can prevent having to put in a lot of work to eliminate pests from your home.
